Police officers' internal and external motivation for the profession: a pilot study results
The article presents the results of a pilot study on police officers' external and internal professional motivation. The sample was made up of officers of Ukraine National Police (n = 25) with 2 to 14 years' experience. The leading motives behind the choice of the profession of policeman were the internal factors while the dominant professional motivation was the adequate type. The female respondents' professional choice motives included also situational factors. The respondents' external values (financial, achievements) and internal values (spiritual) form the basis of personal motivation and value structure and are implemented in the profession, family and education. The respondents' personal motivational orientation was stronger than business motivation, especially in females, but it had little to do with the realization of their creative abilities, self-development, favorite work, physical and social activities. The level of personal system of behavioral self-regulation is determined by the values of self-development, creativity, personal prestige, active social contacts, social life and hobbies. The strongest element of the respondents' professional motivation was the internal motivation associated with self-actualization and spiritual values. The external positive motivation associated with the values of prestige and recognition, general behavioral self-regulation and activity planning. Males were more prone to the external positive rather than external negative motivation. The external motivation (both positive and negative) of the respondents with the adequate professional motivation type encourages their socially significant behaviors and physical activities. External motivating by other peoples' work assessment for women police officers is much more important than for male police officers. Internal motivators (personal success, interesting work, responsibility) and external (good salary and good work conditions) can bring satisfaction with the profession as a process and the result of activity.

Civil servants' professional self-actualization factors
The article deals with professional self-actualization which is the key determinant of individual life efficiency, professional development, harmony and professional self-realization. The term ""professional self-actualization"" means a socialized personal harmonious development characterized by the acquisition of professional and spiritual experience during college training and at-work professional development. The author analyzes the views of foreign and Ukrainian scientists of the problem of professional self-actualization and the main factors in civil servants' professional self-actualization. These factors include macro-, meso- and micro-level factors. The macro-level factors relate to the societal environment, meso-level factors that relate to organization's functioning and include internal factors (organizational culture type, strength, key components development, etc.), external factors (organization's status in the system of civil service, age, location, number of employees, etc.) and family-related factors that also include internal (level of social support, etc.) and external factors (parents' social background, education, financial status, etc.). The micro-level factors are made up of internal factors (personal characteristics), external factors (organizational and professional factors (position, specialty, education, positional experience, organizational length of service, etc.) and socio-demographic factors (age, gender, birth place, marital status, etc.). The author discusses in detail the interrelations of different civil servants' professional self-actualization factors.

Analysis of relationship between teaching staff's tolerance and organizational development in traditional and innovative educational institutions
The article discusses the relationship between the major types and components of teaching staff's tolerance and levels of organizational development in innovative and traditional educational institutions. Comparison of teaching staff's tolerance in traditional and innovative educational institutions revealed that in innovative educational institutions teaching staff's interpersonal, inter-generation, gender and ethnic tolerance were higher than in traditional educational institutions. Traditional and innovative educational institutions differed in the levels of cognitive, conatative, motivational, ethical-normative and personal-meaningful components of staff's tolerance. Traditional and innovative educational institutions also tended to differ in the levels of staff's affective component of tolerance. It is noted that each component of staff's tolerance was higher in innovative education institutions than in the traditional ones. The major types and components of staff's tolerance (except the group-identification component) had no relationship with the indicators of organizational development in traditional educational institutions. However, staff's professional, managerial, inter-generation, ethnic and religious tolerance in innovative educational institutions positively correlated with such indicators of organizational development as organizational maturity and levels of organizational development. Ethical-normative, conatative and values components of staff's tolerance in innovative educational institutions were found to positively correlate with all three indicators of organizational development. It should be noted that for organizational maturity and organizational development as a whole these correlations were positive while for problem organizational development these correlations were negative. The obtained findings can be helpful in promoting teaching staff's tolerance in the context of organizational development of innovative and traditional educational institutions.

System model of social and psychological support for student economic socialization
Patterns of youth economic socialization, great socializing potential of secondary education and the needs of society in the development of entrepreneurship culture in younger generations in Ukraine necessitate the development of specific areas of social and psychological support for the development of secondary school student economic culture. Social and psychological support for secondary school student economic socialization is seen as a system of social and psychological methods and means to influence students in order to typify their economic and psychological qualities and properties to meet the socio-economic requirements. In addition, social and psychological support for secondary school student economic socialization is a system of methods, techniques and forms of students' continuous and regular practicing of various environment-acceptable methods of economic benefit appropriation and gaining within students' authentic socio-psychological space of economic activities. This process is considered as a complex system of measures to optimize the process of secondary student economic socialization aimed to develop students' entrepreneurship qualities, expand and improve the social and psychological space of their relations while alienating and/or appropriating economic benefits, as well as to improve students' attitudes towards themselves and other property owners. The article discusses the systematic approach to the structural components of secondary school student economic socialization including the diagnostic, planning, instrumental, organizational and analytical components. Stressing the cyclical nature of the socio-psychological support for secondary school student economic socialization, the author analyzes psychologist / counselor work at the preparatory, basic and final stages of this process.

Psychological patterns of secondary school students' economic socialization in modern conditions
The article deals with the conceptual basis of economic socialization, which has theoretical and practical importance in terms of socio-economic changes that have been taking place in Ukrainian society. The analysis of the relevant scientific literature identified the following new aspects of the process of individual economic socialization during the transformation of Ukrainian society: a sharp change in lifestyle, the impact of socioeconomic factors on youth value orientations and attitudes, the increasing role of virtual space in designing youth consciousness and behavioral practices. The author considers the main function of economic socialization, i.e. the adaptation of the youth to changing social conditions, and discusses three aspects of economic socialization: economic, psychological and educational. It is noted that the study of problems of economic socialization must be based on the analysis of the scientific works on children's entering the world of money (A. Kozlov, N. Pobirchenko, B. Stacy, A. Fenko, A. Fernam). This aspect of socialization is important also in studying high school students' attitudes to money, wealth, economic prosperity and ways to achieve it because the participation of an individual in the rationality-based economic relations does not exclude morality and spirituality. It is concluded that secondary school students' economic socialization should be treated as the process of assimilation of economic knowledge and the formation of modern economic thinking, that is students' acquisition of the basic knowledge of modern economics, principles and laws of its functioning and development as well as the key economic concepts and categories.

The moral-and-value orientations of economic socialization of students
The author defines and analyzes the nature and importance of moral and value orientations of the individual. The process of socialization is seen as a formation of economic attitudes of the younger generation to the system of values and moral standards and mastery of such elements of economic culture that add moral meaning to economic activities. The moral-and-values orientations are the link between the individual and the society that includes him/her in public relations. These values express the inner world of the individual and prescribe him/her some rules, regulations and principles of behavior that agree with the social environment of living. The complexity of the current social situation is due to not-always-adequate human choice of ways and means to solve the existing contradictions, rather than to the existence of those contradictions. The conflict resolution by an individual is a prerequisite of their mind, moral-and-values system development. The individual's moral-and-values system directs them in searching for their identity, regulates their activities and interactions with the world, allows them to make a moral evaluation of the activity based on the value criterion. The moral-and-values system harmonizes the inner world of the individual, promotes their systematization of knowledge, norms, behavioral stereotypes and self-identity as well as their meeting of social expectations. Recent social transformations in Ukraine, significant institutional changes and the introduction of market economy have resulted in young peoples' rethinking and reassessment of the social, political, economic and legal situation in the country and abroad, as well as have brought about changes in young peoples' values and behavior motivations.

Parental family model as a factor in economic socialization of young couple, problem analysis
The article analyzes theoretical and practical approaches used in social psychology to study the impact of parental family and parents' relationship on the relations between young spouses. The author analyzes the role of parent family as the primary institution of economic socialization of the child, which is the basis of their economic consciousness, and the distinctive features of young spouses' economic socialization in Ukraine. Modern families differ significantly from the families of the past not just in their economic functions, but also in their psychological functions. Therefore, the economic socialization of young people is considered as a component of the whole process of socialization and is defined as the formation of individuals' economic and psychological characteristics through the assimilation of parental family economic values, features of communication, environment traditions and intergenerational customs. This parental family behavior model determines economic socialization of youth and their awareness of the leading function of property and money as crucial factors in young family economic stability and independence. Thus, the economic socialization of young people is a process of gradual development of economic consciousness of the individual in a family environment based on knowledge of the everyday economic reality, parental behaviors and their personal values system. Thus, the new generation can learn social roles only by means of family socialization. Given the volatility and instability of market relations and socio-economic situation in the world, economic socialization of young families, especially at their initial stages, need further investigation.

Economic socialization of modern secondary school students: theoretical analysis
The article deals with the description and justification of the economic socialization model from the perspective of system and intersubject approaches. The author defines the concepts of subjective and intersubjective aspects of secondary school students' economic socialization and discusses the structure, formation, psychological components and development criteria of economic socialization. Based on the general scientific principles of development, determinism and holism the author justifies a comprehensive concept of individuals' economic socialization including its content, structure and development indicators. The article also describes the criteria for secondary school students' economic subjectness development and proves that the process of secondary school students' economic socialization results in the transformations of their roles and statuses in the system of monetary relations and in expansion of their economic relations, which in turn serves as an indicator of students' economic culture and economic subjectness. An indicator of students' economic subjectness formation is their entrepreneurial type of personality that includes such qualities as initiative, managerial skills, persistence, economic independence, financial self-reliance, tenacity, willingness to take risks, self-confidence, self-realization, responsibility, etc. The development of students' economic culture and economic subjectness takes place primarily in the settings of economic culture and economic subjectness of the family as a social and psychological entity. The interiorized, reflexed and individuals'-assessment-mediated economic experience of the family transforms into students' economic subjectness and economic culture. Students' economic socialization in low-income families can have some distortions, peculiar features and effects, which will be the subject of the author's follow-up research.

Financial literacy of students as their economic socialization factor
A necessary condition of economic socialization that provides painless entry of students into the economic space, is their training in performing economic roles, thus their formation of economic culture that shapes their economic behavior, particularly in the financial sector. Financial behavior is the behavior relevant to financial decision-making, that is the choice of solutions to financial problems. Making a choice, the student acts in a particular economic (social) role, i.e. demonstrates the ability to use economic (financial) knowledge and economic thinking, i.e. financial competence. Financial education helps students understand key financial concepts and use them in making decisions, selecting the appropriate financial tools, budget planning and accumulating funds for future goals, etc. Given the importance of students' financial competences, teaching the ""Financial Literacy"" course will allow starting forming financial competences in primary schools, continuing in secondary schools and completing in high schools thus providing continuity in competences development. Equally important is the resource support for these activities (economics or financial education classrooms, economic and financial information stands, school economic newspapers, etc.). This special teaching environment is a transmitter economic / financial information for its further mastering. In this sense, the planning and implementation of extracurricular economic and financial training and education are of special importance.

Brand differentiation as a students' consumer behavior factor
The article presents the results of an empirical study on the effects of brand differentiation on the consumer behavior of students. Having analyzed brand differentiation of groups of products / services (clothing, footwear, IT-technologies, electronics, household appliances, cosmetics, banks, food, etc.) the author concludes that the vast majority of consumers differentiate the brand based on the quality of goods / services which it represents. A significant number of respondents demonstrated poor differentiation of brands of goods / services. It was shown that brand differentiation depended on students' gender, age, marital status, income per household member and the region. The author describes the types of consumers in relation to the levels of their loyalty to domestic and foreign brands and advocates such brand communications that would ensure customer loyalty primarily to domestic brands. It was found that brand loyalty depended on gender (women were more brand loyal than men). There was a direct link between the levels of students' brand differentiation and brand loyalty, particularly in women. The author discusses the application of her research findings to improve brand communication with consumers and outlines the prospects of further studies on social and psychological mechanisms of and factors in brand communication with consumers.

Psychological features of acculturation as macro level socialization
Socialization is an important life-long process as it is socialization that an individual enters society by means of. Because of the fact that societies are becoming less homogeneous, it is reasonable to talk about macro-level socialization. Since acculturation is defined as the process of joining the other-culture environment, it can be seen as macro socialization. However, the main features of psychological acculturation as macro socialization remain uncertain because of the lack of relevant research. This article presents the theoretical foundations and main features of acculturation as macro socialization. Acculturation is based on the process of communication. As natives develop their cultural features, that is undergo enculturation by interacting with each other, so immigrants are introduced to new cultural conditions and acquire new skills by means of communication. Thus, the process of acculturation can be seen as the development of communicative skills typical of the new culture. Complete adaptation to another culture means that all three components of communication are simultaneous, coordinated and balanced. In the process of adaptation to a new culture, people usually lack one or more of these components, which results in poor balance and coordination. Acculturation is not launched by the process that brings concrete results, it continues until the dominant ethno-cultural community is perceived as native. It means that the criterion for complete acculturation (in general, not as a process) is individuals' acceptance of a foreign environment. However, this acceptance may be directed by the chosen strategy of acculturation, which in turn is determined by the process of acculturation dependent on its components. In other words, the acceptance is understood as the final version of acculturation which is characterized by the way the individual interacts with the dominant cultural environment. Personality changes are only the main characteristics of the result of acculturation. Therefore, as long as the changes continue to emerge (in the context of what was and what is), one can claim that the psychological acculturation is going on because the other-culture environment remains different. However, researchers note that although identity does not play a significant role in distinguishing between the process and result of acculturation, it can affect the duration of acculturation.

Fashion brand as a result of project activity in the fashion industry
The article discusses the project activity as a strategic tool for the development of fashion industry. The role of fashion projecting increases because of the growing influence of fashion on different aspects of fashion products consumption and fashion consumers' behavior as well as because of the aims of projecting that include full or partial satisfaction of consumers' demands on fashion products in the context of fashion innovation and fashion market competition. Fashion projecting is considered as a complex multi aspect activity aimed at spreading fashion standards in society (fashion industry strategy) and the creation, production (manufacturing), distribution and consumption of fashion products as a result of this activity (tactics). The project activity is the way of development of individuals' creative potential and individuals' self-realization, the environment that develops social skills and enriches life experience, the means of verification of compliance of personal experience with the personal needs for active social roles, as well as an assessment of leadership competence, etc. The essential role of fashion brand in successful projecting is a symbolic embodiment of complex information that helps display the actual image of the fashion product capabilities in the social reality which forms certain expectations and experiences in the customers. The object-subject relations play an important role in fashion projecting because they aim to achieve positive commercial and cultural effects of the fashion project as a commodity, product and activity, as well as the means and tools of mass communication that form a fashion brand. The author discusses the fundamental properties and mechanism of the main components of the project activity of various actors of the fashion industry, the structural components of object-subject relationship in fashion projecting and the components of fashion projects and fashion brand. It is concluded that the requirements for dynamic object-subject relations in the fashion industry (the fashion products' uniqueness and attractiveness) play a significant role in successful fashion projecting.

Features of men and women in different types of family relationships
The article examines the changes that have taken place in Ukrainian family relationships, the attitudes of men and women to marital relationships under the influence of various factors that determine social changes. The author presents the results of the empirical study into the characteristics of men and women who are in different types of family relationships (premarital relations, civil marriage, official marriage of different length). It has been found that in pre-marital relations men use mainly the confident style of interpersonal relationships, while women tend to perform men's responsibilities and to be shy. In a civil marriage, men are usually self-confident, independent, straightforward and somewhat aggressive; women are self-confident, cooperative, friendly and responsible. In official marriage, women are self-confident, cooperative and ready to assist members of the reference group. Men, who have been in official marriage for a short time, show a confident, independent style of interpersonal relationships along with the elements of aggressiveness. Spouses who have been officially married for along time develop personal similarities.

Culture of interethnic communication in the process of socialization
The analysis of scientific sources shows that the concept of ""culture of interethnic communication"" originated long time ago, though its contemporary understanding was proposed at the end of the twentieth century. Culture of interethnic communication is based on a broad understanding of the phenomenon of culture. The culture of interethnic communication stems from ethnic and universal values that determine individual behaviors and allow assessing our own actions and behaviors of the representatives of other cultures in terms of their specific ideas and choosing constructive ways of interethnic communication. Culture of interethnic communication is always interactions between specific individuals who to some extent are carriers of different cultural norms and values formed by socialization. Thus, the culture of interethnic communication performs several social functions that are important for personality formation. The authors of most works refer to the knowledge needed for interethnic communication and relations that arise in communication, as well as relevant skills and critical awareness of reality. Some approaches emphasize two interconnected aspects of personal culture of interethnic communication: the ability to understand the native and a foreign culture. The culture of interethnic communication is defined as the process of personality development in the cultural environment, in the field of spiritual activities and institutional system as a universal method of self-preservation and development of multi-ethnic society based on the national experience of generations recreated in the personal world and developed in the process of socialization.

Psychological features of informal labor socialization
The article deals with the typology and features of informal socialization and the results of empirical study on informal labor socialization factors. The sample included 30 respondents (15 women and 15 men, averagely aged 26.8) who worked as freelancers (were self-employed or had temporary work in projects, or worked as volunteers) and 30 respondents (25 women, 5 men, averagely aged 29.6) who had full-time work in different organizations. All the respondents had higher or incomplete higher education and lived in large cities in Ukraine. The instruments used in the study allowed analyzing the mental states of workers with different forms of employment and the personal factors behind their informal labor socialization. The author used the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (Ch.Spielberger) to assess reactive and personal anxiety, the Eysenck's Personality Inventoryto study individual psychological traits, including such basic personality characteristics as extra-introversion and neuroticism-emotional stability, andthe Budner's Tolerance of Ambiguity Scaleto measure the levels of ambiguity tolerance-intolerance. Besides, the Eysenck's Personality Inventory allowed assessing some maladaptive states (anxiety, frustration, aggression) and personality traits (anxiety, frustration, aggression, rigidity). Successful informal labor socialization was found to be freelancing while the deviant informal labor socialization was illegal employment. It was shown that informal labor socialization associated with higher ambiguity tolerance, introversion and a lower state of anxiety.

Verbal communication. Analysis of contemporary theories of interpersonal communication
The article analyzes verbal communication in terms of modern psychological theories. The author considers the concept of verbal communication, compares different meanings of the term ""communication"", describes the interpretations and applications of verbal communication in behaviorism, systemic psychology, transactional analysis and humanistic psychology. Psychotherapy, intervention and counseling take place in conditions of communication, whose leading element is verbal communication. Self-presentation of individuals, their inner reality is done in the process of verbalization of the mental material. How deeply the therapist / psychologist / counselor is immersed in the client's discourse and included in the logic of client's verbal self-expression determines the quality of psychological help. According to the behavioral understanding of verbal communication, the external stimulation and response to it shape verbal behavior. By stimulating certain responses one can analyze and correct emerging problems in human adjustment to the social environment. Systemic psychology studies human communication in the system of social relations. Particular attention is paid to the system equilibrium, or homeostasis, i.e. the ability of the system to maintain the required balance. The systemic approach stresses the importance of direct addressing of each system member to everyone. Transactional analysis is a psychological model that describes and analyzes how a person, who plays a social role, communicates. Transactional analysis postulates that one and the same person communicates in one of the three ego-states: Parent, Adult, and Child. The analysis and recognition of these states can achieve effective communication strategy. The basic ideas of the humanistic approach include unconditional acceptance of the person, empathy, congruence between experience and consciousness, between consciousness and communication

Emotional-stressful approach to the prevention and treatment of interpersonal dependence
Interpersonal addiction, or codependency, and destructive addiction are serious challenges for European society. These phenomena are associated with high stressfulness of the environment, the lack of a sense of stability and confidence in the future, destruction of traditional values and relationships in society. Interpersonal dependency causes a number of psychological dysfunctions, syndromes, neuroses, related diseases and social inhibition. The current state of codependency therapy requires new approaches to preventive and therapeutic work. Emotional-stressful therapy gives positive results in treating maladjusted behaviors, including codependency. This therapy promotes introspection and critical but creative analysis of and change in the clients' behaviors. The best effect is believed to be achieved during group therapy because clients' interactions and interpersonal influence, provoked by the therapist, have a specific psychological effect. Psycho-emotional intervention aims at changing clients' attitudes to sufferings, i.e. at reconstructing clients' behaviors in a limited time. The therapy focuses on behavioral and emotional stereotypes of the codependent person. Built on the principles and methods of group psychotherapy, emotional-stressful therapy, as well as other types of group therapy, promotes clients' understanding of universal experience, their hopes of obtaining relevant information, develops clients' socialization skills and encourages clients to experiment with their behavior and self-presentation. The therapeutic effect is also brought by interpersonal training and direct integration of clients' own discoveries and knowledge in personal experience. Emotional-stressful therapy gives the impetus for clients' self-analysis and self-reflection, and is a powerful incentive to develop new skills, behaviors and identity.

Testing of COMMUNITYRESILIENCEMODEL™ in promoting psychological stability of youth from divorced families
The article deals with the theoretical and applied problem of psychological stability of adolescents who are going through their parents' divorce. The author discusses some ideas of the theory of resilience as the basis for creation of applied programs to overcome the social and psychological effects of adverse stressful situations. The author presents the model of social resilience called CommunityResilienceModel ™ aimed at developing individuals' resilience skills and resources and featuring the concept of resilience zone to denote individuals' capabilities of maintaining and regulating psychological stability. The testing of this model using six 1.5-2 months' long CRM™ training sessions was carried out in institutions of higher education in 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 academic years on the sample of 18-20 year old students of different courses some of whom were going through their parents' divorce. The trainees who were going through their parents' divorce did not differ from other trainees in psychological resilience, coping strategies and academic performance. However, the trainees with poor psychological stability (from both groups) differed in psychological resistance, 'emotions' coping strategy and the range of positive feelings and actions. These differences had a different character before (absence of 'emotions' coping strategy and the narrow range of positive feelings and action) and after the training (a significant increase in the range of positive feelings and actions). The post-training change was viewed as an expansion of the resilience zone (a positive re-evaluation of trainees' own life) and as a short-term effect of the CRM™ program. The trainees with high levels of psychological stability had no statistically significant changes in the selected indicators after the training. Therefore, the follow-up studies need to focus on the long-term effects of the CRM™ program.

The space of realization of personal social abilities
The article deals with one of the central problems of social psychology - the conditions and mechanisms of formation of social abilities of the individual. Within the framework of the cultural-historical paradigm, the author proposes a spatial approach to the analysis of conditions of social abilities and a model of the basic spheres of social life. It is shown that in terms of the activity there are four basic spheres of personal social life: interpersonal interaction, institutional interaction, information interaction and organizational interaction. The formation of the individual as an agent of interactions in these areas can be interpreted as a process of personal socialization. The spatial model allows building a typology of social problems, whose solution is an indispensable component of an accomplished personal life. These problems deal with social management, leadership, communication and social intelligence. Mastering of a variety of cultural means to solve these problems allows an individual to be included in the systems of social relations as well as to become an agent of these relations' reproduction and building. The author proposes to determine personal social abilities as a potential ability of the individual to build social structures and relations, and insists on the theoretical differentiation between the concepts of ""ability"", ""capability"" and ""faculty"". To the author's mind, the proposed model has a significant heuristic potential for the development of new forms and methods of psychological support for individuals' socialization and re-socialization.

Types of attitudes to the disease and their relationships with intrapsychological patterns in patients with otosclerosis
Being diagnosed with a disease with poor prognosis is a stressful event for an individual. The response to the disease is based on the interactions between the individual and psychological traits, psycho-social factors and the disease factors. Diagnosis and treatment of patients with otosclerosis remain extremely important because of a significant increase in the number of patients with hearing loss, possible development of temporary or permanent disability and a change in professional status. The main subjective symptoms of otosclerosis include a progressive hearing loss and noise in ears. From the viewpoint of patho-morphology, otosclerosis is the development of foci of destruction with bone resorption in the otic capsule of the inner ear. Otosclerosis is considered a hereditary disease. Otosclerosis is found in 1 to 4% of the population, mainly women (up to 80%). The affliction develops at a young age (17-40 years) and manifests itself or activates during puberty, pregnancy and/or childbirth. Patients' attitudes to the disease are individual and greatly influence the course of disease. An important role in this is played by the so-called intrapsychological patterns manifested in the patients' personal attributes, character traits, behaviors, dispositions, etc. The attitudes towards the disease are studied using the Psychological Diagnosis of the Type of Person’s Attitude to the Disease (TAD) developed at the Bekhterev Psychoneurological Research Institute (St. Petersburg, Russian Federation) that allows identifying the sensitive, anxious, hypochondriac, melancholic, apathetic, neurasthenic, egocentric, paranoid, anosognostic, dysphoric, ergopathic and harmonious attitudes. It should be noted that the study on patients’ response to otosclerosis in relation to their psychological characteristics is an essential part in their medical and psychological aid.

Communication features of officers of the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine
The article deals with the problem of communication of the officers of the Ukrainian penitentiary institutions. The author analyzes the situations that provoke officers' negative emotions during communication with commanding officers, colleagues, friends and convicts, discusses the general level of their communication skills and conflict behavioral styles. In order to improve penitentiary officers' communicative skills, the author proposes to develop officers' self-regulation skills (the ability to control their emotions during communication), tolerance (understanding and acceptance of other people's opinions, empathy (understanding of other people's emotions), listening skills (attentiveness to interlocutors, use of active and passive listening), visual diagnostic skills (identification of other people's mental states, etc.), cooperative and give-and-take behavioral styles, discipline (observance of the Code of Ethics and Service Behavior of the Officers of the SPS of Ukraine) as well as encourage the use of the non-rivalry and avoidance behaviors in conflict situations, etc.
